Member Spotlight - Deanna (Dee) Launders

Since joining the CFG team in early 2019, Dee has embraced the values of CrossFit Gunnedah and quickly became an important part of our community. In the space of a year, Dee has increased her strength and skills, competed in two CrossFit competitions AND fallen pregnant with her third child. Dee's 'get it done' attitude and committment to her fitness goals was recognised when she was awarded 'Rookie of the Year' at the end of 2019.

Dee inspires the members at CFG with her consistent dedication and drive to become fitter and stronger, often working on skills after class and even doing the 'workout of the day' at home when she can't make it in. She always manages to bring a burst of energy into each class, even if it is 6am and she is pregnant and slightly sleep deprived.

We hope you enjoy learning a little more about Dee.

When did you first hear about CrossFit and what was your first experience like at CrossFit Gunnedah/First Workout?

I remember seeing the CrossFit Gunnedah page come up in my Facebook feed one day when Josh had just opened up here. I looked into it and had no idea what kind of training CrossFit was. It made me interested from then on to build up the courage to give it a go. A few years later and I tagged along to my first Friday 9:30 class in Feb 2019. I loved it. I’m sure I looked lost and had no idea what a ‘snatch’ was but the environment and the people made me want to come back for more.

How many days/week do you CrossFit and what is your normal class time? I started out doing 4 days a week, then falling pregnant put a dampener on that and have cut back to 2 days a week. 3 if I’m lucky. I’m normally a 6am class girl and Friday 9:30.
