This week we are putting the spotlight on Leesa Parker. Leesa started at CrossFit Gunnedah in December 2019 and has quickly become a familiar, smiling face in class.
She has already competed in an in-house competition and continues to improve her fitness every week.
When did you first hear about CrossFit and what was your first experience like at CrossFit Gunnedah/First Workout?
I heard about CrossFit through some of my friends and Facebook. My first workout was very welcoming and I didn’t feel I was out of place.
How many days/week do you CrossFit and what is your normal class time?
I usually go 5 days of the week and to either the 9:30am or 5:15pm class.
What is your favourite thing about CrossFit Gunnedah?
That it enhances my confidence in everyday life.
If you could describe CrossFit Gunnedah in only 3 words, what would they be?
Functional, great atmosphere, great people.
What is your favourite post workout meal?
Ravioli.. I love pasta
What do you do for a living?
I work in a Bakery and on the Gunnedah Shire Council.
What accomplishments are you most proud of (outside or inside of the gym)?
Being able to maintain a happy and healthy life as well as a career.
What is your least favourite CrossFit movement?
Rope climbs..
It might sound funny but CrossFit has made my life easier, here is why…
Before CrossFit I never really had much to look forward to and get me out of bed besides my work. Going to CrossFit has motivated me to be my best and has made me feel so good about myself which has made a significant impact on my mental health.
What is one goal you would like to accomplish in the next year?
Strict pull-up.
If you could have any super power what would it be?
My superpower would to be able to control time. I would slow it down because life moves way too fast.
Any tips for a newbie?
Stay strong, work hard and don’t be too scared to ask how.
